About me

Hi, I am Agrima Seth. I’m a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information. My work lies at the intersection of HCI and NLP to study the existing and missing cultural contexts in technologies. I focus on (a)understanding the cultural knowledge and values encoded in language technologies, and (b)understanding how cultural norms and values shape user behavior with technologies. I completed my MS in Computer & Information Science (2018) at the University of Pennsylvania, where I was advised by Prof. Lyle Ungar, and BE in Information Technology (2016) at AIT, University of Pune.

I have interned at Microsoft Research, Snap Inc. (Computational Social Science) and CERN. I was also a recipient of the 2022 Snap Fellowship Honorable Mentions. I also serve as the NLP head at The Global Health Research Collective and volunteer for PathCheck Foundation and TeachAids on projects related to health misinformation.
